Just a quick update…

October 6th, 2011 Fritz

Again, been awhile. October already!? Wow. Was supposed to have my first solo flight 3 different times now…canceled 3 times in a row for high winds. But it IS Kansas.

Capture the flag in the dark tomorrow night, hoping to go to that. Been busy with classes, aviation, and other projects around here.

Interesting weekend

September 11th, 2011 Fritz

Been a bit since I’ve posted…
This weekend we had Tim and Gretchen May in Hesston, providing some excellent bluegrass. They provided live bluegrass for Hesston College’s contra dance Friday night. I also had the opportunity to attend their small concert in a barn just outside of Hesston (with a jam session afterwards!).

Also this weekend was an aerobatics show at the Newton Airport (so both my Saturday lessons got canceled). Got to see some cool planes and flying though, that was unique. Well time to keep working on our speech presentation with my group.

FRIDAYYYYY!!!

September 2nd, 2011 Fritz

See title. No writing class this morning. Got my stage check tomorrow evening (hopefully it won’t get pushed back again!) Picnic and games this evening. Hopefully go to the wellness center in a few minutes to go swimming again. Hot here, we broke the record yesterday for the most days over 100 degrees in a year (51 days as of yesterday, and today it’s over 100 again).

Morning flight

August 30th, 2011 Fritz

Aaahhhh another early morning flight :-) This morning it was so peaceful, what a wonderful drive to the airport in the dark! As I got closer I could see the rotating beacon pushing at the misty fog. This was Josiah and my last lesson before our stage 1 stage check. Went pretty good, mostly a review lesson. Bit of wind for the crosswind landing. On the way home there was a tractor-trailer rig accident. Didn’t see the tractor part but the semi trailer was laying on its side on the highway; traffic was down to 1 lane at that section. Time for lunch then studying for ground school this evening!

Monday, oh yes it’s Monday…

August 29th, 2011 Fritz

Classes this morning went well. Public speaking at 10:00am-10:50am, chapel from 11:00am-11:30am, and college writing 1 from 11:40am-12:30pm. Used the rest of the day to study, relax, and play frisbee. Took my super hot sauce to dinner this evening and my friend Redfa tried some…he put a LOT on!…it got him crying a bit, but he was ok. He says he wants to try it again, just not as much this time hehe. Early morning flight lesson tomorrow, up before 6am. Ground school in the evening 6:30pm-9:30pm. Instructor for ground school is Bob Harder, and he’s also a HAM radio operator…he said he’ll teach anyone wanting to learn more, so looking forward to that too. Well that’s all for tonight!

Weekend report…

August 28th, 2011 Fritz

Well it’s been a pretty good weekend after the first week of classes. Plane wash Saturday morning…big difference on the leading edge of the wings, now longer covered by bugs! And the belly of the planes are clean, not covered by exhaust grease. Following the wash was an excellent BBQ lunch!

Saturday night most of the Hesston students took part in a huge game of “Bunko” in the cafeteria. It turned out being a lot of fun! What drew a lot of the people in was the prizes given at random by drawing names from a basket. Lots of laundry soap, some mp3 players, air fresheners, and more. The grand prize given away at the end was an ipad!

This morning I went to church at Hesston Mennonite Church (HMC). They had a potluck dinner afterwards which was really good! After the meal they gave away prizes including more laundry soap :-P

This evening my mod went to meet our mod parents for desert. Cheesecake with lots of toppings Mmmm! They’re a pretty awesome couple, and both work for Hesston College. Jim is the facilities director and Becky works in the kitchen.

Well that’s all for now. Got 2 classes tomorrow morning then lots of aviation studying for Tuesday night’s ground school. Early morning flight lesson as usual. G’night!

One week down, many to go!

August 26th, 2011 Fritz

Well it’s Friday afternoon and I’m through with classes for this day and week. Tomorrow morning at 10am the aviation students (and whoever else wants to help) are having a plane wash out at the airport, followed by a BBQ. I’ve heard Sandy’s BBQs are not to be missed! Weather forecast looks warm as usual :-) Helped my roommate fix his bike this week, he had a flat tire and patched it, then I helped him put it back on. Later that day though I saw the tire is flat again…he said it’s really old and has been patched many times before, so he’ll have to just get another cheap tube.

In case you haven’t noticed, these college blog posts are in no particular order etc…just whatever comes to my mind as fast as I can type. More to come soon!

Greetings all, from the land of flatness!

So the drive out here went well. Last week was Fly Lark’s week, so all the aviation students got a chance to do a few flight lessons. Totally impressed with all the instructors and administrative members.

Today was the first day of classes, I had 2 in the morning. Public speaking and college writing. So adjusting to life here. Hope to hear from you soon!

Trip to Pittsburgh

July 4th, 2010 Fritz

Roscoe and I went to Pittsburgh for 2 days to visit some family.  Got to see some of the city and went to the Three Rivers Regatta.  Very cool event, lots of food and entertainment.  Two of my favorite things were the mountain bike stunt rider, and the freestyle motocross.  Even more impressive live!

June 8 day

June 8th, 2010 Fritz

Well today when I woke up I quickly realized that my headache was gone! That was good, after a day and a half it was time to feel good again. Got up and called Tom. Then went and picked up his car and brought it over for detailing. Worked on that pretty much all day until 6:45pm. Looked so much better, though I hope to do a few finishing details tomorrow night because I didn’t have time to finish before he needed it back.

Then it was finally dinner time! So hungry! But first I cleaned my detailing stuff. Now just relaxing for the evening…feels good to have a break! ‘Night all
